Warmer: Firstly ask the students:

What would be the 3 best destinations for travelling photography?

What makes you say that?

Interaction: S-S (pairs)

Timing: 10′

Feedback Slot: Provide ss with feebdack on pronunciation

Then, T shows the following pictures from the article and ask students:

  • Do you know these places?
  • What makes the photo attractive?

You can either show the names of the places and SS match or let them see the photos and they try to come up with the names of the places.

(From top to bottom, left to right: American Southwest, Antarctica Peninsula, Cuba, Greece, New Zealand, Patagonia, South Africa, South of France, Turkey, Vietnam)

Ss will also talk about why the photos are attractive, so feedback should be focused on language.

I also asked: Which similarities were you able to find?

Interaction: S-S (pairs)

Timing: 7′

Students read the text  (divided into 4 parts – and they do jigsaw reading) and get the follwoing vocabulary (in the file I produced, the target sentences are in bold)

NOTICING:

  •  conveying one’s view
  • emotional response
  • it encompasses beautiful landscapes
  • local culture, History, nature, wildlife, architecture, food, wine
  • captivating places comprises…
  • unspoiled places
  • Its food is iconic, its beaches are pristine

After the noticing and the contextualising of the phrases, SS go back to the first questions asked but now talk about 5 places: (the target is to use the new vocabulary)

What would be the 5 best destinations for travelling photography?

What makes you say that?

Students make notes on what was discussed.

Interaction: S-S (pairs)

Timing: 15′

Feedback: on the use of the new vocabulary seen.

Students choose 1 place they would like to recommend a friend. With this and the new vocabulary they  are going to make a pamphlet.

Interaction: S-S (pairs)

Timing: 15′

Monitoring: teacher goes around and helps students on the spot.

After SS exchange their pamphlets to decide on their perfect destination.

It’s important to show the topic of the lesson again:
